Medford Today, Tahoe Tomorrow!

Wow, it's hard to keep up w/ this blogging thing when you're spending most of your time w/ family - 1st Rich's, then mine. But tomorrow morning, we're off to the Lake! Yay!

Driving over the Columbia River into Oregon

We drove from Redmond, Washington to Medford, Oregon, from one mother to the other, yesterday. We're in what's probably gonna be the nicest place of the summer, the Homewood Suites by Hilton, nice, spacious suites w/ a great hot "continental" b'fast. We're staying here on the return trip, as well. http://homewoodsuites1.hilton.com/en_US/hw/hotel/MFRHWHW-Homewood-Suites-by-Hilton-Medford-Oregon/index.do

My brother, Rusty, was able to come up for the couple of days we were here, too. That's so awesome! Rusty's one of the coolest people I know. We're not close, but when we're together, all space between us is evaporated. When we're in our own worlds, that's when we're not close. But today & last night, we had a blast!

We went to The Music Man at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival today. 1st musical they ever did. One really cool thing about OSF is their casting. They're totally colour blind. Some "traditionalists" are pretty upset that Marion is played by a black actress. I would think that they would be more upset by her performance, which I found weak (Rich disagrees). Regardless, it was a marvelous, fun production (which also included a couple of deaf actors, something you wouldn't even consider for a play such as this, but it all just totally worked). http://www.osfashland.org/browse/production.aspx?prod=161

Tomorrow we head off for Lake Tahoe! I'm excited to be meeting up w/ my oldest buddy in the world, Hallie & her husband Joel. OK, she's not oldest as in age, but in chronology. She lives in Nevada & will be popping over to our cabin Saturday night for dinner at the buffet at Harrah's & then we're going to church w/ her Sunday.
Rich & I have been scouring our hiking books & are so looking fwd to hitting the hills. But we have a long drive ahead of us. It's 10:45 & Rich is already asleep. I should be heading in that direction, too.
Good night, my someones...
